Peterborough Birds and Wildlife
Welcome to this blog concentrating primarily on birds and other wildlife, and scenic views, in the Greater Peterborough UK area including parts of North Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. Many sightings are from the Great Fen project area, an area currently undergoing re-wilding to join two superb local nature reserves; Woodwalton Fen and Holme Fen details of which can be found here: Home | The Great Fen
The Greater Peterborough area is a truly hidden gem of birdwatching and wildlife sights with beautiful well managed and run reserves, and a great variety of wildlife all on the door step with some of the best places to see iconic species, especially wetland species, and fantastic for photography.
The area houses some of the oldest nature reserves such as Woodwalton Fen, the lowest point in Britain at Holme Fen and far reaching views. Being overshadowed by nearby coastal hotspots in North Norfolk and coastal Lincolnshire also leaves the area greatly under-watched with beautiful reserves one can wander around seeing hardly anyone, and having wonderful reserves, wildlife and space almost to oneself - a rare treat to get away from it all in today's modern world, and a very different experience to those more used to birding in North Norfolk.
Both myself and my partner contribute to the blog here, both taking wildlife photographs and scenic shots, and we hope to showcase some the best sights the area has to offer along with updating lists of species seen over time.
We hope you enjoy our blog and enjoy coming on this journey with us.
